World Braille Day is observed across the globe on January 4 every year. Braille is a tactile script used by people who are visually impaired. The inventor of the Braille system is Louis Braille.

Louis Braille was born in France in 1809. Due to an accident, he lost his eyesight. Despite this, at just 15 years of age, Louis Braille developed a reading and writing system for the visually impaired.

In honor of his contribution, this system was named the "Braille script." World Braille Day is celebrated worldwide on January 4, the birth anniversary of Louis Braille.

This day marked a turning point in the lives of blind individuals. Braille has emerged as a revolutionary tool, making education and literacy accessible to the visually impaired. Even today, many people with visual impairments communicate with the world through the Braille script.

In India, Braille can also be found on currency notes and coins. Many public places also feature Braille inscriptions to assist the blind.

On this day, let us remember and honor Louis Braille, who made a priceless contribution towards making the blind literate.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and inspiring World Braille Day!
