National Bird Day is observed across the country to raise awareness about the protection of birds in our environment. In 2002, the Avian Welfare Coalition declared that 5th January of every year would be celebrated as National Bird Day.

The purpose of this day is to protect endangered bird species, preserve their natural habitats, and prevent the illegal trade of birds.

Due to rapid urbanization, forests are being destroyed, which has led to a decline in bird populations. Many bird species have already gone extinct and now exist only in memory. Even common birds like sparrows have come close to extinction due to the impact of modern technology and the internet.

Birds also play a vital role in pollination and indirectly contribute to forest growth. If birds disappear, it will inevitably affect the entire ecosystem.

If we want future generations of birds to thrive on this planet, it is our duty to start protecting the bird species around us today.

Wishing everyone a thoughtful and inspiring National Bird Day!
