World Day for War Orphans is observed to empower and support children and individuals who have lost their loved ones due to wars between nations. The French organization SOS Enfants en Détresse declared January 6 as the day to raise awareness and take action for war-affected orphans.

Children who lose their parents or guardians during wars are often deprived of education, healthcare, and proper nourishment. The objective of this day is to uplift and empower such victims, providing them a chance for a better future.

The impact of war can be seen through historical examples like the atomic bombing of Japan during World War II, the effects of which are still being felt today. No matter where in the world war occurs, it is often innocent civilians, especially children, who suffer the most and become orphans.

With conflicts increasing day by day, the number of casualties continues to rise. According to a UNICEF report, the year 2024 was one of the deadliest years in terms of lives lost to war. It is our collective responsibility to protect global peace and focus on the upliftment of humanity as a whole.

By observing this day, let us all hope for a future with fewer wars and a world where peace prevails.
