Indian Army Day is celebrated every year on January 15th. This day marks the historic occasion in 1949 when Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from British General Francis Butcher. Hence, this day is celebrated as Indian Army Day to honor the beginning of Indian leadership in the armed forces after independence.

This day is observed to remember and pay tribute to the sacrifice and dedication of Indian soldiers. Every year, grand celebrations take place in Delhi, where Indian Army personnel perform air shows, parades, and military drills.

On this occasion, soldiers who have shown extraordinary bravery on the battlefield are honored with prestigious awards like the Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal.

Let us all remember and salute the sacrifices and courage of our brave soldiers.

Wishing everyone a proud Indian Army Day!
